Musical Theatre 'Cats' Workshop : November 2012.

Rae Piper & Paul Chantry from The Chantry Dance Company both Professional Dancers and Choreographers ran a three hour intensive workshop for DA Students. Dancers enjoyed being put through their paces in a three hour workshop based on Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet. The students also learned the original routines from 'Cats' the Musical including the White Ballerina's cat solo piece which was enjoyable and challenging.

 

Chantry Dance company who delivered the 'Cats' workshop is a Contemporary Ballet Workshop led by Mr Paul Chantry. Paul has been a member of Ballet Central and he has choreographed numerous prestigious Operas and Ballets. Paul was dance captain for 'The Fairy Queen' he has also worked within Musical Theatre and he has Choreographed ' La Traviata'which was nominated for Best Musical Award. Paul is currently choreographing 'The Magical Flute'. Paul has worked within the industry for many years and has a strong Ballet based background.

Rae Piper: an Assistant director and rehearsal Director of Chantry Dance Company. Rae is a Professional Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz Dancer. Rae's credits include 'Alice' along with many more. Rae was the swing/Acrobatics captain for 'Love never dies' by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Rae has recently participated in research projects at The Sadlers Wells Theatre for Lenja Saenz creating the role of The Homily Clock in 'The Borrowers'. Rae is an aerial acrobat and contortionist for which she works internationally. Rae has performed in' Chicago All that Jazz' and has worked on several productions at The Old Vic Theatre School

Dance Examinations

Well done girls for our Exam results on the 9th of December 2012! 41 of you were awarded Honors and 1 Highly Commended. Fab results! x

IDTA Examinations : Well done to all Dancers who took part in our IDTA Examinations (May 2011). Our results were outstanding in all areas. Street, Freestyle & Rock 'n' Roll. Dance Attack has been invited to attend a National Dance Competition in London by accredited IDTA examiner Mr Berry following our great results.

Well done to all Dancers who have taken the recent IDTA Examinations (October 2011 and the 24th of June 2012) our results were outstanding. Thirty eight of you achieved Honors between 90-100% and two of you achieved Highly Commended between 80-90%. Two of you (Rebecca Paul & Sharna Healey)  gained 98% for your Gold Bar Two Awards which is rare for any examiner to award a student with a close 97% being awarded to Nicole Allen for her Silver Freestyle Award. Students who took Exams in June 2012 were awarded 37 Honours, 2 Highly Commendeds, 13 students achieved a Star Dance Award and 3 little Dancers achieved their Rosette Awards. Well done to Jenny and Sharna who were awarded Honours for their Gold Bar 3 Awards.  examination . Ballet groups will also prepare for your examinations in November 2012.
